INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
(CITYWIDE IT SUPPORT)

2006-2007 Has become the year of virtualization, we now use VMware™ technology allowing the streamlining of multi server environment for quicker deployment and reliability. Currently supporting 13 individual software applications and acquiring 5 more by year’s end VMware™ has made IT support possible with minimal staff and financial budgeting for various departments of the city. The Information Systems Department provides server and desktop related technical support to the various departments in the city.  This would include support and maintain the Local Area Networks, Wide Area Network on Cisco equipment using Sonic Wall ™ to defend from outside intrusion and unwanted email spam.  The department provides in house custom built pc’s based on departmental use for more flexible spending of our budget dollars. Using the Hardware and software life cycle guidelines the IT department evaluates software at the desktop and server level allowing a smooth transition to the end users. Other IT functions include systems backup on tape and digital methodology also providing training and user assistance in several cross platform applications and other city financial applications.
2008-2009 will be an exceptional year for both the IT staff and city departments with the implementation of our new GIS system that will allow map layering of the city allowing various departments to view detailed maps based on their growing needs to better serve our community.
